The New Brunswick Islam Book Reading Club

Muslims have always taken prided in the diversity of thought, a reflection of an inherent plurality, abundance and hence the necessary concomitance of these attributes leading towards respect within inter-faith and intra-faith relations.

Part of this was fostered primarily since muslims lived along and side by side, within non-muslims either as minorities or at times as minorities.

The purpose of the Group is to bring muslims of all different persuasions [reverts, ethnic groups, school affiliations and immigrants, and social classes] to share their challenges, the fruits of their labors and resources at hand to deal with challenges unique to their own existence.

We shall, with God's embrace this with reading about our own perspectives, but also of each other, and also reach out to scholars in our midst. This is to foster a sense of appreciation and to rekindle the plurality that once gave Islam its vibrancy.

We shall explore writers of different persuasions as well, books which are Islamic and not necessarily Islamic, particularly how our sister faiths dealt with such issues.
